Emails containing Virus not in Virii folder

James Brown
The most recent file in my Virii folder is dated August of last year.
I thought this meant that ASSP was not correctly doing its virus
scanning.

But then I went to the Statistics page in the web interface and
noticed that it had stopped one yesterday. Sure enough, looking at
the logs, it intercepted a 'Worm.SomeFool.P' virus at 8pm last night.

This email is not in the Spam or NotSpam or Virii folders.

Where did it go?

Using 1.1.2 Beta 1.

Thanks,

James.

Re: Emails containing Virus not in Virii folder

James Brown
Sorry, just worked it out. There is a section under File Paths for
Virus Collection which was blank for me. Have filled it in. So now it
should store the virus-containing emails.

James.

Re: Emails containing Virus not in Virii folder

James Brown
Well, I just had ASSP stop two 'Worm.SomeFool.P' viruses, and there
is nothing in my Virii folder, even though in File Paths:Virus
Collection I have set 'Virii'.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

James.

Re: Emails containing Virus not in Virii folder

You specified a file path, but did you turn on the "logging" feature
to save in the folder instead of to discard (which I believe is the
default) ?

Re: Emails containing Virus not in Virii folder

James Brown
Under Logging, I have set "External Blocked Attachments" to 5, as
recommended.

These folders are relative to the ASSP folder.  So if you Virii folder
is in the ASSP folder, the path should only read "Virii".

Re: Emails containing Virus not in Virii folder

James Brown
Yes, that is all it says.

Eg, Spam Collection says:

spam

Not-spam Collection says:

notspam

Virus Collection says:

Virii

So, it should work. It used to work. (up until 3rd August 2005).
Perhaps it was around this time that I upgraded to 1.1.2 Beta 1?

James.

Re: Emails containing Virus not in Virii folder

Micheal Espinola Jr
Ah, sorry, I misunderstood.  I can't imagine why there would be an issue then.

Have you looked directly at the assp.cfg file to see if there is any
corruption (bad characters perhaps) on the config line that perhaps
you aren't able to see via the web interface?

Re: Emails containing Virus not in Virii folder

Bill Christensen
In reply to this post by James Brown
Just shooting in the dark here, but you might want to check the
folder permissions.

I'm not using that version yet, so can't speak to whether it works properly.

PS: please at least trim off the listserv footers from your posts,
guys. There were 11 copies of it on that last email.

Write permissions for everyone, still doesn't work.
