Feature Suggestion: Config changes log file

Greg Wright

If I am correct, the ‘Changed Defaults’ button just lists the current configuration compared against the defaults.

I have been keeping a manual list of all changes made to ASSP by copying the lines produced in the maillog file each time a change is made.

It would be nice to have an option to turn on logging of all administrative changes to a file so that there is a reviewable historical log of all changes of configuration, rather than just changes comparing current to default. I often incrementally update my configuration, and its nice to be able to review what was changed recently if I need to revert the changes.

When testing or implementing features over a long period, this has helped me find changes I made that were causing issues.

Im happy to keep doing it manually, I just thought it might be a good idea.

Maybe automatically saving copies of the Config file after each change
would  made  a  rollback  even  easier. If ASSP would save a number of
copies   (eg.   64)  with  time  and  date  and  delete  older  files
automaticalls,  you  could revert to an old config without searching a
log.

I've installed (42) and checked it out, looks fantastic!

You've implemented it in a very handy way, if I want to add comments
after the changes describing why I changed that feature, its very easy
to do that now.

ASSP is working well too. Im very pleased with it (after 10 minutes of
checking it out), you have done great work.

I continue to be amazed at how responsive - especially how *fast* -
Fritz is with things like this - he implemented it before I was even
able to respond that I liked the idea... :)

Thanks Fritz!
