QUIT takes too long after completed transmission

Katip
v.2.5.2(16117)
w2k8 x64 with plenty of RAM
WAN/LAN -> ASSP -> MTA (ASSP/MTA in same box)

i have noticed that bigger mails (several MB) take much longer ASSP to
send QUIT to MTA after transmission is completed.
tested with an 8MB mail (npRe, nothing is checked):
sent from LAN client : QUIT 45-50 secs after transmission
send from WAN client : same
send via ISP : QUIT 60-65 secs after transmission

it doesn't matter SSL/TLS or no security.

however if I send the same mail directly to MTA bypassing ASSP, MTA
sends QUIT as soon as transmission ends. i played with various Server
Setup settings but no avail. thanks for any advise.

Re: QUIT takes too long after completed transmission

Thomas Eckardt/eck
the logic

WAN/LAN -> (1)ASSP(receive complete mail) -> (2)assp(check) ->
(3)assp(send complete mail) -> MTA (ASSP/MTA in same box)

QUIT is transfered to the WAN after (3) is completed. ASSP is a proxy not
a mail server!

Re: QUIT takes too long after completed transmission

Katip
dear, it's been a long time i'm on ASSP.
10 secs to transfer from client to ASSP (npRe!!! no checks) and then
wait 45-50 secs to have the job done in the same box is something new to
me. i don't remember such a delay in older builds.
and also pls note, the bigger mail the longer delay to QUIT. with about
10MB attachments clients start to get timeouts and this is a problem.

Re: SOLVED!! QUIT takes too long after completed transmission

Katip
just for the record..
i found a useless entry in "hosts" file : 127.0.0.1 ACTIVEDIRECTORY
ACTIVEDIRECTORY.COMPANY.COM
no idea how and when it's slipped in.
just deleted it and now it looks fine. 12MB mail WAN->ASSP 15 secs and
another 15 secs till QUIT which should be ok i think.
