Win32 Smarthost alternative to MS IIS SMTP

K Post
With Google now flagging messages as unencrypted in users' inboxes, I've
decided that it is time to retire our ever trust Microsoft IIS Virtual SMTP
Server.  She's been good to us, but doesnt support optional outbound TLS
(it's either always on or always off).

I'd love to hear what servers the rest of you Win32 users are using as the
relay host / smart host.

Thanks
Ken

  Win32? As in Windows 3.1? (DOS-based?)

If you need a queue that runs ON the IIS box, I have used ArgoSoft mail
server .net.
If you can get away with setting up a linux VM, OpenSMTPd is really easy
to setup as a queue / forwarder.  Exim can also be used on a linux VM,
but it's more complicated.

On Windows for an SMTP/IMAP server I've used Mailenable.  I like it well
enough to recommend it.  It has GUI admin (if you want/need), but stores
most config in flat files that can be edited externally (mainly what I'm
doing).  To be fair, MailEnable is the only *windows* SMTP I've used in
the last 10yrs, so not sure what competition is like, but when we were
choosing back then it won out and just stayed with it since.  Can't
speak to how it scales since our setup is fairly small, but I've read it
can handle sizeable traffic fine.
