If ASSP is not yet recognizing this as spam, you have a few options.

1.  Forward the email to ASSP's Report Spam address, so ASSP will
count it in with the spam corpus.
2.  Add parts of the spam contents to your Spam Bomb list (see more at ...).
3.  Blacklist the sender domain.

I think the original poster was asking "will assp recognise spam that
consists of an image and no text"

There can't be a lot left to differentiate... Just the headers :-\

Hello,

Yes, it was a screen shot, when I redirect to assp, it have a low number in the X-assp field.

I use the 1.0.9 version of assp, is it easy to upgrade, is there many fields to change or to add infos after upgrade, and is my spam database already ok after upgrading?

Regards.
Didier.

Using VMachines...

Tim Canfield
Hello... I am wondering how many ppl have considered using a VM to run ASSP? .. I run it on windows right now... but I wonder if there would be any benefit to creating a VM that can be just downloaded and played on someones computer, pretty much runs out of the box... with minor configuration changes...  I have no idea how this would affect licensing.. so if it does mess with anything legality wise. I appologize in advance...

Anyhow.. it was just a thought.. VMWare just released thier 'free' server product, so might be a pretty nifty alternative..
also the player has been around for awhile.. with Linux machines.. I think it would be pretty sweet to be able to just drop in a VM and make some quick changes, and have your email filtered by ASSP.. N¬HY޵隊X¬²š'²ŠÞu¼’¦[§‰ÜŒ¨º

I think you'd be better off dropping a $300 old machine in place, but
that's just me.

I think it is a perfect VM candidate, IF you have a host machine with spare CPU, and particularly spare RAM.

I had issues trying to get it to run on an Exchange server, so I moved it to a separate box where it works flawlessly.  A VM would give me the same separation without the additional hardware.  Also, for DR, just keep a copy of the VM and backup your ASSP directory every once in a while and you can get ASSP back up with little effort.

Have had ASSP running on Vmware ESX Server for 9 months now and it's
performing very well handling ~500 users, handling ~100k mails a month.
It's a perfect cadidate for virtualization. The only time where it needs
some power (cpu+memory) is when rebuilding the database and that is done
nightly here. I have posted some stats on how this system performs
earlier on this mailing list. Have been considering moving it to a LPAR
(p5+) where I can give it more memory before the database rebuild starts
and reclaim it afterwards, but so far the system is happy sitting here
in a VM on an intel box. :)

RE: Using VMachines...

Robert K Coffman Jr. -Info From Data Corp.
It is a beta - but don't kid yourself, this is an updated GSX and seems to be pretty solid from what I've seen so far.

As far as time limited, I didn't see any mention of that - but I did see mention that the non-beta version would be out, this summer IIRR.

RE: Using VMachines...

In reply to this post by Tim Canfield
It wouldn't surprise me that the beta would expire. That is typical for
betas. Once it goes GA, it looks to me that it wouldn't expire. That
page says:

"The product is expected to be generally available later in the first
half of 2006. Support and subscription services for VMware Server will
be available for purchase upon general availability."

After which you get the 'release' version.

They have plainly stated that the former 'GSX' version will be free from
now on.

Re: Using VMachines...

Tim Canfield
In reply to this post by Micheal Espinola Jr
yes it is an timebomb beta.. but they intend on releasing updates as they increase features and stability... but we wont have to update our VM's to use the other versions... anyhow... AND they (VmWare) plan on keeping this free like the player is... according to ppl inside... and sales team... they basically are using this as a marketing ploy to eventually get ppl into thier ESX system... which requires no OS at all... pretty good one if I may add...

updating the software is pretty painless as well... I have used thier workstation product for years.. but it wasnt designed for server OS's, this one is...

but this message wasnt designed to throw anyone off the ASSP subject... I was just trying to find out if anyone had done it... and seems there was 1 person that claims they have...  I am going to do it myself as well...  already installed a few VM's ... I think DSL DamnSmallLinux is actually a good platform to run this ASSP in... in a VM... I hope to test this theory in the near future... otherwise it does run in FC4/5 without trouble...

RE: Using VMachines...

Gordon Watson
In reply to this post by Tim Canfield
There's already a prebuilt DSL image on the VMWare community VM machines page, at:

http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/vm/community.html

Would that help?  I think that a decent (and lite) VM of ASSP would assist greatly with people trying it.

yes it is an timebomb beta.. but they intend on releasing updates as they increase features and stability... but we wont have to update our VM's to use the other versions...

I have second-hand indications that it will expire on 7/13/06.
